Your 3 Minute Call - A Quick Q&A With Julia J Nagle (9 To 5)
There's one 9 To 5 that you wouldn't mind tumblin' out of bed to, and that's if you just happen to be starring in the musical itself.
Julia J Nagle is currently touring the UK with the show - what a way to make a living!
9 to 5: The Musical is based on the 1980 film of the same name, with music and lyrics by the Queen of Country, Dolly Parton. It follows three workmates pushed to boiling point by their sexist and egotistical boss. Together, they cunningly kidnap him and reform their office for the better.
It's a show filled with powerful women wearing powerful suits with powerful voices; both for singing and for making statements.
Julia plays Roz; the office Admin Assistant, and resident jobsworth with an almighty crush on her superior.
She found some time on her lunch break to tell Cheeky Little Matinee all about her CV to date!
Julia as Roz in 9 To 5
What was your first job, and how did you find working there?
The Worst Witch film with Central Television playing Bubbles. I was 12 and everything about it was amazing!
As a child, what was your dream job?
Showbiz! I’ve always wanted to be a performer.
What is the worst job you’ve ever done and why?
Being a cleaner – I found all sorts of things when cleaning underneath people’s beds!
If you weren’t performing now, what do you think you would be doing?
I would be waiting for my agent to ring!
If you had to choose a fictional person to work for, who would you choose and what would you do?
It would have to be Meryl Streep as ‘Julia Child’ in the film Julie & Julia, and I would be her ‘chief taste tester’!
What would we find in your office desk?
What are the chances of you making it to a workplace for 9am?
High! I love being early to things.
Who is your biggest support in the industry, your “work wife” if you will?
You tend to have a person on every show you work on, for me on 9 to 5 The Musical it’s Emily Bull. We worked together on a show called Allegro a few years ago.
What’s your go-to lunch and snack for a quick break?
Tell us the best thing about working on 9 - 5?
I love Roz. I love playing her! Plus, everyone involved in the show is so nice, and I’m having a brilliant time.
