Hello, my name is Tanyel Gumushan.

I am a freelance music journalist and PR, and a blogger!

When I'm not gushing/crying over shows and cast announcements, trying to make my cat love me by holding him like a baby at every opportunity, or renovating my newly purchased cottage in the countryside, you'll find me at my desk writing the words on this blog.

As a freelance journalist, I have been published in Clash, NME, The Guardian, DIY, HERO, Gigslutz and held the position of Music Editor at The National Student during university. From 2017 - 2018, I was also the Music Editor of tmrw magazine, where I successfully published seven print editions and secured print cover interviews with Little Mix and Niall Horan. In addition, I managed a team of creatives from around the world, whilst overseeing the online content. This saw me jump on tour buses, camp out at festivals and go inside the homes of the greatest popstars in the world to create long-standing features with the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, Machine Gun Kelly, Dua Lipa, Tom Odell, and more.

In addition, I freelance in Public Relations and my clients include Universal Music and Stay Loose PR. I work with emerging artists, usually on their debut release, to put together biographies and press releases. Namely, I have worked with Ramz on the song that earned his Brit Award nomination.

I was awarded the Wilko Johnson Award for Young Writers in 2016 and received UK Music's Outstanding Music Graduate Award in 2019. With UK Music, I manage MAPping; a digital collective connecting music industry professionals with young people for mentorship.
